Bayronto Wreck

The Bayronto Wreck is a large 400 foot long freighter vessel that sank in a storm in the early 1900's off the coast of Southwest Florida. The wreck is located approximately 35 miles offshore and lies in approximately 100' to 110' feet of water. The shipwreck is a popular spot for both fishermen and scuba divers. There are many places to fish and dive in the Gulf of Mexico off of the coast of SW Florida, and this is one of the more popular wrecks that most boats can reach, since it is not too far offshore.

These GPS coordinates are a starting point, as you may want to scout around the wreck for your best vantage waypoint.

• Relief may reach up to 75 feet.

Fishing can be exciting at times due to the water depth and size of the shipwreck. Fish species can range from smaller pan sized fish such as porgys, grunts and snappers; to larger game fish such as red grouper, gag and black groupers, scamp, amberjack and large goliath grouper. Fishing up in the water column can also bring other surprises such as barracudas.

This is just one of the many productive fishing reefs in Southwest Florida.
